KEEPING YOUR EVENT ALIVE

Capturing the atmosphere, the buzz, and that tangible feeling of a live event on paper with my art is something that truly brings me a bucket-load of joy. I attended an incredible but emotionally challenging panel discussion back in 2018 on a subject really close to my heart, and the entire room was charged. In an attempt to keep my tears in check, I took out my sketchbook from my bag and started drawing. I drew the room, the guest speakers on stage, I wrote down the statements that felt too powerful to go unwritten- and that was it. I realised this was something I wanted to do. I had this physical reminder of an event that changed the way I thought and felt, and it was truly special. I wanted to document important moments for people and keep them alive.

So here I am.

The occasion us up to you - whether you are hosting a panel discussion, a corporate party, a workshop- it can be any other event that you would like to capture in a fresh, creative and intimate way. I can illustrate your event as it happens, and create one of a kind, original, hand-painted keepsakes for both you and your guests.

There are two types of work I can create live for you on your day; Live illustration or Guest portraiture.

Live illustration

I can attend your group panel, corporate event or workshop, and paint group illustrations capturing the event in a really authentic way whilst seated at my easel. These illustrations can have key text documenting what I hear as your event takes place, or if you prefer, image only work where the focus is the illustration. If there are key speakers who you have in attendance, or important parts of the speeches or discussions that you want me to capture, you can let me know in advance and we can be sure to have these important take-aways from your event included in your illustration. This is reportage style illustrations that graphically record your event.

These are great for creating corporate postcards, calendars and other media for distribution to clients or shareholders. The live illustrations and text will be captured on the day of your event, and then these will be taken away back to my studio after your event for refinement. Once the finished images are completed, you will be sent the draft versions for final approval to ensure that the text is on brand and conveys the messages you are happy with.

Guest portraiture:

I can attend your event and create individual speed portraits for each guest, that they get to take home with them on the day of the event. I can do these in a variety of sizes, but all of the work will be done on 300gsm acid-free cold pressed quality paper, and can be framed and bagged for your guests on the day of the event. If you have company branding that you wish to be added to the frame or paper, this can be arranged too if you want to give that extra personalised touch. Your guests names and the date of the event will be added to each illustration in my signature handwriting to add that extra personal touch.

Your guests will be able to approach my easel and portrait desk, and will pose for 10-15 minutes whilst I draw their portrait. With 15 years of hospitality and events management under my belt, I’m completely relaxed with chatting to your guests whilst I create these speed portraits and making them feel at ease. Your other guests can also get to watch the live art taking place, which creates a talking point and a bit of theatre too.

I offer two styles of work to make sure that my illustration style suits your preference and event.

Style 1:
Expressive Portraiture

Expect bold, punchy colours and a more loose flair. These portraits will be a mix of different mediums to create textured and playful portraits.

Comic Noir

A monochromatic controlled style that feels like more like a sophisticated graphic novel. A combination of black linework with block shading and points of interest.
